About Kathy

I’ve loved drawing since I was a child and enjoyed painting with watercolour, but it wasn’t until I discovered soft pastels that I found the medium that is my passion. I love the way pastels combine drawing and painting, allowing me to create luminous colour and capture the beauty of light, atmosphere and those fleeting moments that are so easily missed.

I live on Queensland’s beautiful Sunshine Coast with my husband, where the coast is woven into our everyday life. We walk our two dogs along the beach each day, and those daily walks have become an endless source of inspiration. The changing light on the water, people enjoying simple moments together, and the ever-changing moods of the sea continually find their way into my paintings.

While coastal life inspires much of my work, I’m equally drawn to people, animals and everyday subjects that reveal something quietly beautiful. Working in an impressionistic style, I like to suggest rather than describe, leaving space for the viewer to bring their own memories, stories and emotions to each painting.

Before becoming a full-time artist, I worked as a GP and later as a cosmetic physician. Those years gave me a deep appreciation for people and the human experience, and they continue to influence the way I see the world. I’m interested not just in what I see, but in what a scene, a person or a quiet moment makes us feel.

Family is at the heart of my life. We have two wonderful daughters and three young grandchildren who remind me daily of the joy found in simple moments - watching waves, exploring the beach, or spending time together. Those experiences reinforce what I hope to capture in my paintings: the quiet beauty of ordinary life and the memories that stay with us long after the moment has passed.

Painting, for me, is an invitation to slow down—to notice changing light, quiet connections and the beauty that exists in everyday moments. The paintings I love most are those that stir an emotion or awaken a memory. If my work reminds someone of a place they love, a cherished moment with family, or simply brings a sense of calm into their home, then it has done exactly what I hoped it would.

Thank you for visiting my gallery. I hope my paintings invite you to pause, reflect, and perhaps rediscover a memory or place that is special to you.
